Nasir El-rufai, Governor of Kaduna State, has condemned ransom payments to kidnappers, stating that he would not participate in such payments even if his son is kidnapped.
On Friday, April 9, 2021, El-rufai gave a radio interview.
“I mean it, and I’ll say it again. And if my son is abducted, I would pray for him to go to heaven rather than pay a ransom,” he added.
The Governor also stated that his administration would not pay a ransom to secure the release of students kidnapped by bandits from the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation in Kaduna in March 2021.
According to him, the Kaduna state government is “absolutely not paying ransom” and is looking into other options to ensure the students are returned to their parents.
