Imo Police say hoodlums used a petrol bomb to attack Uzodimma’s house

The Imo State Police Command confirmed on Saturday that the Imo State Governor’s House in his (Hope Uzodinma’s) hometown of Omuma in the state’s Oru East local government area was attacked with a petrol bomb, but the hoodlums did not succeed in burning the house down; only vehicles were damaged.

Orlando Ikeokwo, the State Police Public Relations Officer, revealed this to reporters in Owerri while reacting to the governor’s house attack.

Security personnel, he claimed, were successful in repelling the hoodlums. He did, however, confirm that during the attack, the hoodlums killed an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.

He went on to say that while the hoodlums were attempting to flee, they killed two security operatives at Mgbidi Junction, one of whom was a police sergent and the other an NSCDC officer.

“Yes, I can confirm the storey, the hoodlums attacked the Governor’s House by throwing a petrol bomb, resulting in the burning of two cars, but they were successfully reppelled,” he said.

“And none of the buildings were set on fire, but one unarmed NSCDC personnel was killed in the process, and the hoodlums while fleeing also killed a Police Sergeant and another NSCDC personnel in their private vehicles at Mgbidi junction.”
