The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with a ‘one chance’ armed robbery along Abuja’s Zuba and Lugbe axis.
Ishmael Peter, a 31-year-old male, and Omeka Kadiru, a 20-year-old male, are among the suspects. They were apprehended by eagle-eyed Police detectives from Zuba Division on regular patrol in the early hours of Thursday, April 29, 2021, while attempting to dispossess their victim of her belongings.
This was revealed in a statement released by ASP Yusuf Mariam, the Police Public Relations Officer.
“The suspects who parade themselves as commercial drivers admitted that they lure their unsuspecting victims (women) into their operational vehicle before carrying out their nefarious act,” according to the document. Exhibits recovered included a red Toyota Corolla with registration number BWA 782 BD, a fabricated Beretta pistol, six rounds of live ammunition, a plyer, a chisel, two ATM cards, a camouflage cap and vest, three different NUMBER PLATES, seven human hair-WEAVES, ten mobile phones, a bunch of keys, two pairs of female shoes, four female handbags, and a cash sum of $128,000.
“Relatedly, police officers from the Lugbe Division arrested one Emmanuel Joseph, 26 years old, Thankgod Abam, 26 years old, Gabriel Joshua, 27 years old, and Ekene Nwatu, 31 years old, all of whom are males, for robbery. The perpetrators admitted to terrorising the Lugbe axis and defrauding innocent people of their belongings. Displays
“Among the exhibits seized from the suspects are a red Toyota Corolla with registration number BDG 648 EZ, six plasma TVs, jewellery, and other household objects.
“At the end of the investigation, the suspects will be arraigned in court.
“In addition, the Command wishes to reiterate the prohibition on the use of illegal covered number plates within the FCT, as violators will be arrested and prosecuted.”
