President Muhammadu Buhari has convened a critical meeting of security chiefs to discuss security issues in some parts of the world.
Mr. Buhari met with the security chiefs and heads of the intelligence community on April 30 and May 4 as part of ongoing “sensitive engagements” to provide solutions to the country’s security challenges.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha, and Chief of Staff to the President Prof. Ibrahim Gambari are among those present at today’s meeting.
Others include the Minister of Defence, retired Maj.-Gen. Bashir Magashi, the President’s National Security Adviser, retired Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno, and the acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba.
The meeting also includes the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu, and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amoo.
Geoffrey Onyeama, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, is also attending the security conference for the first time.
