Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate and publisher of the online news outlet SaharaReporters, has been “shot” in Abuja by a police operative.
Sowore was reportedly shot Monday at Abuja’s Unity Fountain by a female police officer.
When the incident occurred, the politician was at a rally with some associates.
Deji Adeyanju, an activist, confirmed the incident, adding that he was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Inibehe Effiong, a lawyer, also stated that he watched the shooting live on Facebook.
“@YeleSowore was just shot by a female police officer at Abuja’s Unity Fountain,” he tweeted.
“It is stated that the criminal officer is an ACP. I watched Sowore’s assassination unfold live on Facebook. “
