Abubakar Malami, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, directed the Director of Public Prosecution to immediately prosecute those who violate the Federal Government’s order suspending Twitter operations in Nigeria on Saturday.
Umar Gwandu, Malami’s spokesman, revealed this in a statement titled, ‘Twitter ban: Malami orders prosecution of violators.’
The AGF stated, “Abubakar Malami, SAN, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has directed that violators of the Federal Government’s ban on Twitter operations in Nigeria be prosecuted immediately.
“Malami directed the Federal Director of Public Prosecutions at the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice to spring into action and begin the process of prosecuting violators of the Federal Government’s De-activation of Twitter operations in Nigeria.
“Malami directed the DPPF to coordinate its efforts with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, the National Communication Commission, and other relevant government agencies to ensure that offenders are prosecuted expeditiously.”
