According to the Presidency, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, have amassed a weapons and bomb stockpile across the country.
Malam Garba Shehu, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, stated this in an Abuja statement on Saturday.
Shehu was reacting to President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweets being removed from Twitter and the subsequent mixed reactions from members of the public, when he claimed the IPOB killed police officers and set fire to government property.
According to him, the Buhari administration will continue to protect all citizens from the disruptive and divisive influences of social media.
Nnamdi Kanu alleges that the Nigerian military bombs and secretly murders Igbos.
“IPOB is illegal under Nigerian law,” Shehu stated. Its members commit atrocities against innocent Nigerians.
“They assassinate police officers and set fire to government property. They have now amassed a sizable arsenal of weapons and bombs across the country.
“Twitter does not appear to understand the magnitude of our country’s civil war’s national trauma. This government will not permit a repeat of that atrocity, ” he added.
Recall that Twitter deleted Buhari’s tweet on Wednesday for violating its rules.
