According to DAILY POST, one of the fleeing herdsmen who reportedly abducted a tipper driver in Ogun State on Friday has been discovered dead in the bush.
On Saturday, our correspondent reported that one of the kidnappers was shot and killed during a gun duel with police in Mologede, Odeda Local Government Area, Ogun State.
Other gang members were said to have escaped with gunshot wounds.
According to the police, “one of the kidnappers, who fled with a bullet wound, was discovered dead in the bush, while another was apprehended.”
Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state police spokesman, told DAILY POST on Sunday that the DPO of Bode Olude division, DSP Durojaye Rotimi, had launched a massive manhunt for the escaped herdsmen as directed by the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun.
Oyeyemi stated that the entire forest of Mologede was combed and that one of the kidnappers’ bodies was discovered lifeless, while another was apprehended with bullet wounds.
The arrested suspect, who police identified as Mohammed Bello, identified himself as an ex-convict from Ibadan, Oyo State.
The suspect’s suspected kidnapper was also recovered with packets of tramadol and weed suspected to be Indian hemp.
He was taken to the state CIID for further investigation and prosecution, as directed by the Commissioner of Police.
